Town of Huntsville Environment Award for 2008

Congratulations to Mary McCulley! Mary has been named the recipient of this years Environment Award by the Town of Huntsville for her untiring efforts.

Mary is a Past Co-Chair of the Huntsville Lakes Council and currently serves as a Director  and Chair of the Policy Committee for the HLC. Mary is also a representative on the Town's Environment Committee.

 Congratulations again, and thanks for all your hard work Mary!

Waterfront Living: Issues of living on the water

In many of these important areas, the Huntsville Lakes Council (HLC) has been instrumental in helping to educate and raise the awareness of both the public and our political bodies, so I will utilize its efforts to outline many of the issues for you. First, some brief background information.

The HLC was formed in the spring of 2003 after three years of informal meetings of local lake associations to discuss areas of mutual concern where it became clear that together we could help each other to keep our lakes great.


Dark Skies Lighting: a How-to

Ah, the beauty of a dark sky full of stars! In addition, there is growing scientific evidence that darkness is a biological imperative for all living organisms and the proliferation of night lighting is harming plants, birds, mammals, fish and insects.
